Fly, Eagles, Fly :)

Asher was SO ready for the first Eagles game on Sunday...E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!!!!!! For the win! You can't see it very well in this pic (I'll post a better one later), but his hat looks like a football. Thanks to Carrie Benkert at EllieOh's hats on etsy.com. It is adorable!!!

Was the summer so, so fun?!

Wow, this summer flew by and we had so much fun watching Asher totally grow by leaps and bounds.  He's rolling like a champ (all over the place), starting to think about getting up on all fours at times (yikes!), and just developing into more and more of his own personality. He's a real smiley guy :)

He got to do a lot of firsts this summer.  First plane trip, first beach trip (including first road trip), first Phillies game (including first away game, first subway/train ride, and first rain delay..haha), and first time meeting most of mommy's side of the family! And he was a trooper though it all :)

Go Phillies!!!!

Meeting Geema for the first time. I think it's safe to say they both had a good time together :)

Meeting Grammy for the first time!

I'll post more pictures later of our escapades this summer with both sides of the family.  But for now, Asher is up from his nap and the rest of the pics on the external hard drive. Until later!!

Our huge, little blessing :)

Over the past couple of weeks, I feel like it's been coming to my mind again and again what a gift Asher is to Nam and me. And I mean "gift" in the truest sense of the word.  Really...what have either of us ever done to deserve this little life who has changed our lives so much for the better? So, I've found myself being very grateful to God for blessing us with this huge, undeserved blessing.

Asher and I have been reading books a lot lately.  He likes the pictures and I like the stories. haha. So we've been reading Barnyard Dance, Dr. Suess, The Little Engine That Could, Snow Day, etc.  Today I read to him from The Jesus Storybook Bible.  We read the story about Abraham and Sarah being given a son, Isaac (same as Asher's middle name). This part struck me "They named him Isaac, which means `son of laughter.' And  Sarah laughed. But this time it was a glorious, happy laugh. Her dream had come true. God would do as he had promised." Even though we have rough days, Asher and I, he also brings glorious, happy laughter way more often :)

Ok, enough talk...here are more pics:
Compare 3 week pic to 3 month pic.  What a chunka munca!!

It's summer!!!

Ok, so it's been summer-like here in San Antonio for a couple months already with temps in the 90's consistently for a while already. BUT, fun summer activities have just begun so it makes the heat seem more worth it. haha. This past week I had the opportunity to help with Bible School at our church.  I enjoy doing this every year but didn't think it would work with having Asher this year.  However, it worked out for Nam to stay at home with Asher while I went to Bible School each day but one.  One day I strapped Asher on in the baby carrier and he attended his first Bible School :) Fun was had by all, but by the end I was sweating because of the under-air conditioned church and the little furnace that is Asher's body strapped to me.  But he did a great job just wanting to look around and sleep.

We've also given Asher his first swimming experiences within the last week.  When he first gets in, he opens his eyes really wide because the temperature change surprises him, but he hasn't cried yet. He seems to enjoy it once we are bobbing him up and down, and he's floating around. Plus he's super cute in his swim attire and he knows it's going to be easy for him with the ladies this summer at the beach. haha.

Swimming with Mommy and Daddy

Oh! I almost forgot to say that he had his two month check-up at the doctor a couple weeks ago. He is gaining wight like a champ...honestly I don't know where he's getting it all from.  How can eating every 3-4 hours produce such weight?!  He was 13 lb. 8oz. and 24 in. long.  That puts him at 90th percentile for both weight and height.  Thanks to Nana, we are now calling him chunka munca (or chubba wubba...whatever I feel like at the time) :)  He also got his first immunizations and he was pretty miserable for the rest of the day.  Lots of holding and consoling was in order.  I felt badly for him, but it did serve to show me how good I have it on a normal day.  He's usually a very happy kiddo for the most part. He has his days, but he makes me smile and thank the Lord for our dear little one.

A good view of his chunkiness :)

Nam plays with Asher and talks to him constantly. It's like they have their own little communication system. They love to trill their lips at each other (raspberries). It makes Asher get a huge grin on his face and laugh every time :)

Daddy and Asher

There's the update.  Sorry it's a little long, but it's been a while since I've had a chance to post anything.  Hope  you enjoy!!

Happy Mother's Day!

This is a special Mother's Day.  Nam surprised me with a very sweet gift from Asher and him. It was a charm to add to the necklace he gave me when we first started dating 7 years ago. Little silver baby booties are now part of my necklace as well.  I think it's great that my necklace has started to tell a story about the most important boys in my life :)

Not only is it special because it is my very first Mother's Day, but I also get to spend it with my mom here in San Antonio.  And to get to spend it with her after the amazing help she's been over the past 3 weeks has made this day even more special.  Mom and Dad came to visit on April 19th. Dad got to stay a week and spend lots of time with Asher sleeping on his chest.  Mom has been able to stay longer to help me figure out what in the world I am doing with this new little life, and she's gotten to be the recipient of many of Asher's new smiles and coos.  He likes to tell her lots of stories during his happy/content moments after eating.  He also spends lots of hours snuggling in her arms.
Grampy and Asher bonding through a nap

Nana spent a TON of time in this rocking chair holding Asher

We caught Grampy and Asher in the same sleeping position :) Thanks to Aunt Marnie for the awesome Moses Basket Asher is sleeping in!!

He LOVES to mimic smiles now...especially after diaper changes and eating

Nam and I are loving seeing all the ways Asher is changing everyday.  I know Nam wishes he had more time to spend with him. One of the best times of the day are when Nam gets home from his graveyard shift and I've just finished feeding Asher. This is definitely Asher's favorite and happiest time of the day, and he usually has lots of smiles and sounds to make at Daddy :)

"Daddy, wake up! I want to coo at you!"  :)

Nam is especially good at the football hold

Asher loves tummy time and is starting to hold his own head up better than before, though I still get head butted a lot. It's great to see him developing and growing so well.  This Tuesday will be his 6 week birthday!!!
