Ok, admittedly it's been too long since I last updated. To put it mildly, it's been a little busy in the Phan household. However, Asher has been meeting huge milestones developmentally that are, of course, worth taking a few minutes out of the hectic schedule to share with everyone, especially since I am so proud of his accomplishments and so thankful for what a healthy son we've been blessed with. :)

Despite the look on his face, he loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar |
Asher is now 9 months old. He's taking two to three steps at a time, unassisted, before falling over. He cruises everywhere, and his favorite thing to do is try to hang out with our dog Jax as much as possible. Jax loves to go in her crate to get away from him, while Asher sits or stands at the crate door looking at her and talking to her. When it's not driving me crazy, it's very cute.

I just want to be with Jax! |

OH! and Asher dances now. Talk about putting a smile on our faces. He doesn't usually do the typical baby bounce, although he'll do that too at times. Mostly, he likes to show his groove by swaying on all fours. It's hilarious, especially since he's SO in the zone when he does it. He'll just be crawling along, a song will start playing that he likes, he'll freeze in place and just sway back and forth to the beat, in his own little world. It's the best! If I can get the video we have of it uploaded without it taking forever, I'll post it. :)
The beginning of December, we excitedly embarked on a road trip to Dallas to have Asher spend time with some much-loved family on Nam's dad's side of the family. We had a great time and lots of laughs!

And Co Tuyet gave lots of hugs :) |
We also enjoyed our first Christmas with Asher surrounded by lots of loving family before, during and after Christmas. It was very memorable. AND I got Asher's stocking made in time for Christmas. It took way too many hours to complete and I'm afraid I've set a time-consuming precedent for any future children we have. But I think it turned out really well, and I hope it turns into one of the items Asher looks forward to bringing out a few weeks before Christmas each year in eager anticipation of all the fun holiday times ahead.

With Asher eating lots of solid foods now, Nam and I have resolved to eat healthier in the new year. I made my first "green soup", which involved a lot of kale and spinach, some sweet potato, sweet onion, garlic, and as anyone who knows us well knows no dish is complete without a little spice...cayenne. Put all that and a few more ingredients cooked down into my food processor and you have soup! It was very green...fit for a Dr. Seuss book green. It was tasty. Not "tell all your friends `It's the best!'" amazing. But it was good and above all really, really good for you. Thanks eatingwell.com!
Until next time, hope everyone is having a great start to the new year!
